Easy Soy Glazed Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs boneless with skin-on
  • 2 large cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • 2 scallions roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp neutral cooking oil avocado oil, peanut oil
  • 1 tsp five spice powder
  • 2 tbsp water
  • kosher salt + black pepper

Instructions

Honey Soy Glazed Sauce

  • In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, water, sesame oil, five spice powder, garlic and ginger. Whisk all the ingredients together and set aside.

Prep the Chicken

  • Generously season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  • Add the flour to a plate or tray. Lightly coat the chicken with the flour and shake off any excess flour. Then transfer the coated chicken to a plate.
  • Set a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium high heat. Add 3 tbsp of oil to the pan. Once the oil is heated, add the chicken. Cook the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side. (If the chicken is browning too quickly on one side, lower the heat.) Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, pour in the sauce and decrease the heat to medium. Stir the sauce with a spoon and let it simmer for about 30 seconds.
  • Then add the chicken back into the pan and add the scallions. Cook the chicken in the sauce for about a minute and then remove the pan from the heat.
  • Serve over a warm bowl of rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately. Enjoy!
